What happened to compassion?
Where is the ability to have debate on facts? I remember being in a debate class and using facts mattered, especially if you wanted to win. What happened to caring?
We can’t just keep pushing the wrong into the abyss. We have to decide to do.
Sitting at home on Facebook and arguing does very little but aggravate all involved, raising the level of angst.
We are living in a world of conflict and hate and simple acts of kindness seem to be outdated. Holding space for someone in grief or being challenged is fading.
I have seen too much world wide, first hand, to be able to close my eyes in innocence. I have walked the streets of many counties, developed long lasting friendships. I rejoiced in what I could learn from cultural immersion. I reveled to learn more. Seeking to discover and share new knowledge.
I remember sitting with my friend in the Dominican Republic who really was the hardest working person I knew . We had just finished at the consulate applying for a Visa. He stated “ sometimes I think God forgot me “ it was in that moment I recognized something. I just happened to be born in the United States. I could have been born anywhere and so too my lived experience would have reflected that fact.
We are not better than anyone else. We started from a different place. One of freedom, choice, possibility and potential. Not easy for all, but a bit of an open path. I know that many here had great challenges, but the institutions that we had mattered and could be utilized in times of duress.
Now I see the great sadness, high anxiety and the spread of hatred because of desire of control. Desire for wealth and power and because of that the loss of humanity has ensued.
Grant me the ability to spread peace and share love in every way possible.
Let me act with love and grace.
Grant me the ability to speak in ways that open hearts.
Sharing Big Love ![]()
