Purple boots. My friend Autumn had a habit of choosing a color and that color was the color for the month or a few months and then she would change. One month, as I was picking her up for our pedicures and manicure girl day she told me she wanted purple boots. So we went on the search looking for purple boots and when we found them, I decided to join her because wearing purple boots was something I would’ve never done, but she was sparking me on to just be unique, be me.

Many of my friends at the studio inspired me to be myself, to like what I like, and do as I do. That is why we loved to dance together. I would play music from every corner of the planet. Salsa, merengue, pygmy, Celtic, Cajun, one of our favorites was just taking out a world, music album and just dancing away. It wasn’t formal dance. It was love of dance that we shared. The capacity to move in whatever way fit our emotional stance. It was in this way that we all fell in love with music and movement together.
I still wear my purple boots and I smile when I do thinking about Autumn, who insisted that purple was the color for however, many months and every item from top to bottom was purple. Carrying one self through the world these days with the ability to be creative,be yourself and be un phased by those around you is a gift. I thank my friend Autumn for showing me life is ours to make it what we want it to be. Be your own choreographer and dance to your own music.
We can be silly and free together!
